They saved me once I got to the airport and realized my reservation with another company was not good. They got me in a car immediately, will definitely rent from them again.

I received personal, professional and courteous service, got an extremely clean and nice car, and had an easy and friendly check-in and check-out. I had a great experience and I’ll rent from Baker again next trip to Wilmington.

FAQ

Yes, you must have a personal auto insurance policy containing full coverage auto insurance (comprehensive & collision) that is transferrable to a rental vehicle. When picking up your rental, you must furnish this insurance, including the policy number and expiration date. This must be provided even when purchasing our optional insurance products.

Baker Automotive Rentals only accepts Credit Cards for payment.

We do not accept Cash, Checks, or Debit Cards.

We do not accept Prepaid Cards, Maestro Cards, or Credit Cards from Online Banking Institutions.

We do accept Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover.

All Credit Cards need to be issued by a major financial institution that offer physical banking locations.

The Credit Card must be issued under the renter's name.

No, but the card will have a hold placed on it at the time of pickup. Please check the terms and conditions on your rental agreement for the dollar amount required. Upon your return of the vehicle, all holds will be released, and the actual cost of the rental will be charged. Please note that your bank may take up to two weeks to post the released credit hold to your card. Unfortunately, we cannot be held responsible for any returned checks due to credit hold processing.

Your total rental rate is calculated based on the information provided at time of reservation. Quoted total rate will include any options you select during the reservation process. Our helpful rental agents will review all charges with you to ensure that your total charges meet with your approval when you pick up and return your vehicle.

We work very hard to include all fees you will be charged, however, your rates may not include insurance, taxes or any city/country/state/federal surcharges applied to vehicle rentals.

You may cancel up to 48 hours in advance of your designated pick-up time without penalty. If you cancel within 48 hours of your pick-up time, we will assess a $75 fee.

  • Change On-line Reservation
    • To modify your on-line reservation or update any information we have for you in our system, please contact us at 910-833-1660. A Baker Automotive Rentals Customer Service Agent will be happy to help you with your rental needs. Please note that some modifications to your rental information may subject your rental to rate changes.
  • Canceling a Reservation
    • Please call Baker Automotive Rentals at 910-833-1660. Please call at least 48 hours before your pickup time to avoid a $75 cancellation fee. They will require the reference number you were provided in your confirmation email in order to cancel your reservation.

When you pick up your vehicle, we will hold a $400 security deposit on top of the cost of the rental. The security deposit plus the cost of the rental is placed as an authorization, or pending charge, on your credit card. Upon return of the vehicle, the cost of the rental is finalized as a sale on your credit card, while the deposit falls back towards your credit limit – unless there are unplanned charges, such as fuel replacement, late return, or detail/smoke fee.

We offer a 59-minute grace period for returning your vehicle based on your pickup time. Each hour following the grace period will assess 1/3 of the cost of the daily rate. Following the third hour, you will be charged an additional day based on the daily rate.

First, contact the police (911). Next, contact our rental office at 843-377-1220. Then, contact your personal auto insurance company and establish a claim for the damage. Lastly, make sure to complete a Baker Automotive Rentals Accident/Incident Report providing as much information as possible for us to complete our claims process.

Regardless of purchasing coverage, an accident report needs to be filled out.

In most cases, the balance due represents the uninsured elements of the claim such as your deductible, Loss of Use and Administration Fees.

Renter’s Contingent Liability Insurance (RCLI) provides, on a contingent basis, the Renter with the same limits as required by the Minimum Financial Responsibility Laws, for a daily charge. The limits provided vary and are based on jurisdiction where a loss occurs. This policy is subject to a deductible of $2,500 (See Terms and Conditions). Coverage is driver specific, and any driver not listed on the Rental Agreement as “Renter” or “Authorized Driver” are excluded from coverage, where allowed by law. PIP/UM/UIM/No-Fault are rejected where allowed by law and secondary if not rejected in the jurisdiction in which an accident occurs. All Prices are Per Day Enrolled. Notification: This is optional coverage and may be duplicative of other insurance and it is not necessary to purchase in order to rent a vehicle.

Supplemental Liability Insurance (SLI) provides excess coverage for the difference between, at least, the minimum financial requirements for a jurisdiction and any and all applicable “other insurances” including, but not limited to, personal or commercial auto insurance and the Maximum Aggregate Limit ($100,000 or $500,000). There are internal limits for Bodily Injury ($20,000 and $100,000 respectively) and for Property Damage ($10,000 both options). The Property Damage limit is excess to any valid and collectible “other insurances” including the state minimum financial responsibility limit and is included in, and reduces, the maximum Aggregate Limit. If there is any other valid and collectible insurance in effect (i.e., personal automobile liability coverage) then the available protection under the SLI coverage would be reduced by the amount of the underlying insurance. SLI coverage is always excess of other valid “other insurances” and the last payer. All Prices are Per Day Enrolled. Notification: This is optional coverage and may be duplicative of other insurance and it is not necessary to purchase in order to rent a vehicle.

Collision Damage Warranty (CDW) Provides Collision Insurance (CDW) for Vehicle Collisions. This coverage is designed to replace that provided by the fleet or renter’s personal auto insurance policy for covered damage to the rented vehicle, subject to the corresponding deductible. The limits listed below are the maximum limits for coverage provided and are based on the value of the vehicle provided by the rental counter at the time of submission. This coverage will act as the renter’s vehicle collision coverage and is first payor after the deductible is met. This is optional coverage and may be duplicative and not necessary to purchase in order to rent a vehicle.

Personal Accident Insurance and Personal Effects Insurance (PAI/PEI) provides limited medical, death and dismemberment insurance for the renter and their family in the event of an accident. There is also coverage for the belongings of the renter and their family. This is optional coverage and may be duplicative and not necessary to purchase in order to rent a vehicle

Limits of Liability:

  • Accidental Death & Dismemberment – Driver: $50,000
  • Accidental Death & Dismemberment – Passenger: $5,000
  • Emergency Medical Expense – Per Accident: $1,000
  • Personal Effects Limit ($ 25 deductible): $525

Standalone, PEI provides limited coverage for the belongings of the renter and their family. This is optional coverage and may be duplicative and not necessary to purchase in order to rent a vehicle.

Limits of Liability:

  • Personal Effects Limit ($ 25 deductible): $525
